According to the guidelines, a Betterment user can own up to two checking accounts. It can be two joint accounts, individual accounts, or one of each. Therefore, you need to be free to decide and select based on your requirements.
You can set up a Joint Checking account by changing your existing Checking account into Joint Checking or by creating a new Joint Checking account.
Therefore, to convert the account, you have to Sign-In and choose your existing Checking account. Go to the Manage Account bar and choose to Add someone to the account bar.
Or else, if you wish to create a new account, you have to choose Checking from the Add goal/account option. And select between a Joint Checking and Checking account.
Before you finish the procedure, it will ask to add some basic info regarding your Joint Checking partner. After which, your partner will receive an email to join your account. And you are done.
